Meet the artist

Hi, I'm Nikko! I'm a proud Californian who now calls Virginia my home. I'm passionate about reclaiming my Indigenous and Latina culture through storytelling in my art. It's been an amazing journey, and I'm excited to share it with you.

Growing up, I always felt a deep connection to my cultural roots with of Lakota, Mexica, Zapoteca and Latino communities. But as I got older and moved away from those communities, I realized that I had lost touch with my culture and the connection I had. It was through storytelling, both through my own art and the stories of others, that I was able to reconnect with my heritage.

Now, I strive to use all of my cultural practices in both modern and traditional ways. There's so much richness in my culture, and I want to share it with the world. Whether it's through my art, food, or simply through conversation, I believe that sharing our cultural stories is crucial to understanding and celebrating our differences.

I am committed to promoting sustainable and ethical practices of up cycling where I can reclaiming old beads, textiles, etc when I can.
